Setting up, running and growing a core lab is a long-term process. Affymetrix can help facilitate your progression by providing key benefits customized to the stage of your lab.

• Tiered System – Benefits are tailored according to the core lab throughput. The program has three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold.
• Rewards System – As array usage increases, you will progress through the tiers to receive the added benefits that each tier brings.

The Program Provides a Strong Communication Network

The network of core lab directors benefits from regular meetings with each other and with Affymetrix technical and scientific personnel. Core lab members will be invited to an annual meeting, in addition to other forums where they can learn about new applications and communicate their experiences.

The Core Online

Core lab members will have access to The Core Online - an exclusive website full of useful information tailored specifically to your needs.

How Does the Core Lab Program Work?

The Affymetrix Core Lab Program is a tiered system, based on annual array usage.

All core labs begin on the Bronze level. Once you are part of the Core Lab Program, you will receive a Core Lab Identifier Code, which should be included on all orders placed with Affymetrix.

At the end of each subscription year, your array usage will be reviewed and you will be promoted accordingly for the following year's subscription period.

Statements

You will receive regular statements detailing all of your purchases from Affymetrix and the number of free arrays you have redeemed.

Subscription Renewal Reminders

Two months before your subscription expires, you will receive a statement that includes the following information:

• The exact date when your subscription will expire
• The number of free arrays left in your subscription period
• The number of arrays you need to purchase to be promoted to the next level

Free Arrays

Free arrays can be any combination of catalog arrays, and can be ordered as required throughout the year.

Affymetrix Service Agreement Programs

To participate in the Core Lab Program, all GeneChip®-brand instruments at the core lab must be covered by a valid service contract.

All core labs have the opportunity to purchase instrument service contracts with the discounts shown below.

Affymetrix offers two affordable service agreement plans for Affymetrix instrumentation. These programs are based to fit our customers’ ongoing needs when their original warranty expires.

Partek GS for Data Analysis and Visualization

Affymetrix provides exclusive offers to core labs with the aim of facilitating building capacity as your throughput increases. Upon renewal and promotion to the next level, you will be issued a quote that enables you to purchase instruments at a deeply discounted price within the next 12 months of your agreement.

When Affymetrix launches new products, Core Lab Program members will have the opportunity to evaluate them through tier-specific discounts.

Co-marketing Program

Joint Seminars and Exhibitions

Affymetrix would like to work with you to facilitate promotion of your services and growth of your throughput. On an annual basis, we will offer you the opportunity to participate in a number of joint exhibitions or seminars within your institution. These events are designed to promote your services and applications to the rest of the institution.

Marketing Materials

As part of the co-marketing program, you will be able to order all Affymetrix literature online. This material can be used for application-specific seminars or simply to promote your Affymetrix Core Facility to your customers. Many of our marketing pieces are application-focused, enabling you to tailor the material to your customers’ needs.

We will also send you Affymetrix Core Lab folders annually. These folders, useful for your customers, can include your logo, a list or services offered and pricing information.

Subscription to the Communication Program

Core Lab Program members enjoy a wide range of resources, including events and insightful communications.

Core Lab Directors Meeting

Each year, Affymetrix sponsors and organizes a meeting exclusively for core lab directors. This is the ideal opportunity to find out about the latest technological developments from Affymetrix, learn from the experiences of colleagues and network with other core lab directors and Affymetrix staff. As a member of the Core Lab Program, you are entitled to one free seat at this meeting annually.

The Core Online

The Core Online is an exclusive website for Core Lab Program members. You can login and access this web portal to get recent updates, view third-party news and track training and workshops.

Subscribing to the Affymetrix Core Lab Program

To join the Affymetrix Core Lab Program your lab must:

• Be part of a non-profit organization
• Have the ability to successfully provide microarray analysis service to the institution
• Be qualified by an Affymetrix local sales representative
• Be approved by an Affymetrix sales manager
• Currently possess an Affymetrix GeneChip® System
• Have a valid instrument service contract at Elite or Assurance level

To purchase a subscription to the Affymetrix Core Lab Program, please send the following to Affymetrix Customer Service:

• A completed application form
• A purchase order for the Bronze Core Lab Program
• Applications will not be processed without a purchase order

Once we have received your application form, you will receive a membership pack containing the following:

• A membership certificate
• Order forms for your free arrays
• Contact cards with your unique identifier code to pass to your end users
• Core lab support team contacts list
• A listing of current core lab promotions
• Details on how to claim discounts from Partek®
