GeneChip® Bovine Mapping 25K SNP Kit


The Affymetrix Targeted Genotyping Bovine 25K SNP Kit provides genotype analysis of approximately 25,000 SNPs. This kit contains 10,000 SNPs from the original Bovine Mapping 10K SNP Kit as well as 15,000 novel SNPs. The SNPs on the panel were validated across 15 Bos taurus and Bos indicus breeds and include several quantitative trait loci (QTLs) of interest to beef and dairy cattle breeders. The panel also includes SNPs from two African Sanga breeds.

The majority of the SNPs were discovered as part of the Bovine Sequencing Project and were validated at Affymetrix. In both kits, genotype data is generated in a single multiplexed assay using proven molecular inversion probe (MIP) technology in combination with Affymetrix universal tag arrays, and scanned on an Affymetrix GeneChip® Scanner 3000 TG System.
